Curricula for Parenting Educators

The curricula offerings from Parenting Now are based on our 45-plus years of direct service to parents. The curricula are flexible, adaptable and user-friendly for parenting educators.

Since 1978, more than 110,000 parents and their children have benefited from Parenting Now programs and services. Through sound research and hands-on experience, Parenting Now has developed curricula and training for parenting educators that is used in many settings throughout the United States and in many international settings. It is flexible, adaptable and very user-friendly.

Make Parenting A Pleasure® Second Edition

Nationally recognized, group-based curriculum for parenting educators serving highly stressed parents of children 0-8. The curriculum is grounded in the Protective Factors Framework (Center for the Study of Social Policy) and is research- and evidence-based. A 2019 article in Child and Family Behavior Therapy describes the results of a clinical trial of Make Parenting A Pleasure® with highly stressed families. Promising outcomes included improvement of self-reported symptoms of parental depression and improved parenting skills and knowledge of child development. 

The Second Edition is updated with a fully reconfigured presentation of content and new videos supporting the new formatting.

Parenting: The First Three Years® Curricula

A three-­part, group­-based curricula for parents of Infants, Ones and Twos. Incredible INFANTs®, Wonderful ONES®, and Terrific TWOs® are developmentally based curricula that offer in-­depth parenting education to the universal population of parents of infants and toddlers.

Parenting: The First Three Years® optimizes an appreciation of child development knowledge and provides the opportunity to unify cohorts of parents of children ages birth to three to promote mutual support and prevent parent isolation --­­ a key protective factor in abuse prevention.

Parents come together for each series of ten sessions to:

  • Learn about developmental ages and stages
  • Gain greater understanding and appreciation of their individual child
  • See themselves as their child's first and most important teacher
  • Learn effective parenting skills and positive approaches to discipline
  • Make friends and become part of a learning, supportive group.

Parenting Now!® The Curriculum

Parenting Now! curriculum is derived from our nationally recognized, evidence-based curriculum Make Parenting A Pleasure. The Parenting Now! curriculum is customized for the general population of parents with children ages 0-6, with more emphasis on child development and parenting skills such as emotion coaching and parental values. Parenting Now! is research-based and evidence-informed. 

Simplified to seven sessions, Parenting Now! is ideal for use in health care systems, community colleges and other organizations that wish to offer in-depth parenting education to the universal population of parents of young children.
