Parenting education professionals will learn the best use of the Make Parenting A Pleasure®, Second Edition. This training is also applicable to Haga de la Familia un Placer®, as well as the original Make Parenting A Pleasure®, Parenting Now® the Curriculum, and Haga de la Paternidad un Placer®.

What to Expect During the Training

  • A guided walkthrough of the Make Parenting A Pleasure® Second Edition curriculum
  • A live sample session so you can see the curriculum in action
  • Opportunities to practice and reflect on facilitation strategies
  • Discussion of real-world implementation, including virtual delivery

Make Parenting A Pleasure, Second Edition

Make Parenting A Pleasure®, Second Edition training is for parenting educators who use or plan to use the curriculum and want to increase their proficiency and understanding. This training is also applicable to Haga de la Familia un Placer®, as well as the original Make Parenting A Pleasure®, Parenting Now® the Curriculum, and Haga de la Paternidad un Placer®.

Foundations of Facilitation

This training is adapted from The Ford Family Foundation's training. Group facilitation skills are important competencies for guiding parent learning, regardless of which parenting curriculum you use. This foundational training is designed for parenting educators who implement parenting series in group settings.

Meet The Trainers

Amanda Hill, M.Ed (she/her)

Amanda is Parenting Now's Director of Training. She has a passion for working with educators, parents, and families. She also teaches child development courses within the community college and university settings. Prior to teaching at the college level, she taught typically-developing preschoolers, as well as those with special needs. Amanda has two young children. When she's not in the office, she enjoys spending time outside with her family.

Kira Rafuse (she/her)

Kira is a Parenting Educator and Trainer for Make Parenting a Pleasure and the First Three Years Program at Parenting Now. She was a Parenting Educator for several years in Anchorage Alaska before moving back to Eugene in 2024.  She has her own two lovey daughters who are 11 and 16.  Kira is passionate about serving the parenting community and looks forward to working with your family!

Michael Finlay, BS (he/him)

Michael is a parenting educator, coach, and advocate for fatherhood. He runs This is Fatherhood, LLC(opens in new tab) and This is Fatherhood Blog(opens in new tab) in addition to his work with Parenting Now and Boot Camp for New Dads. Michael is committed to building a community of fathers and parents that are fully engaged with their children and families. He is a father of an amazing son and daughter and is happily married to his high school sweetheart. Michael is excited about sharing the highs and lows of parenting with others so that he can also be the best dad for his kids.  He is also a kid trapped in an adult body and loves playing Lego, Pokemon, and with other toys with or without his kids. He received a B.S. in Social Science from Western Oregon University, 2009.
