With our annual Parenting Now! fundraising Auction and Dinner celebration coming up, this blog post on who will be on your child’s board of directors really resonated with us.
From where I stand…
People ask such interesting questions.
Tonight I was lucky enough to be able to attend a fundraising dinner with the little one. We saw LOTS of people who we know and love. Many of whom we haven’t seen in a long time.
The keynote speaker asked the following question: “Who is on the Board of Directors for your life?”
What an interesting question.
I thought about it, as I sat in a room filled with so many people that I’ve known since I was a child; since before I can remember. People who have been with me for my whole life. People who always want me to succeed, who have helped me when I needed it and held me up.
I thought about my daughter, who is forming her own relationships. Many with people who are like mentors or family to me. Many are relationships with people who we are getting to know together.
Who will be on her Board of Directors for her life? Who, besides her daddy and I, will be there for her?
I think that there are a whole lot of people in her corner. In fact, I know there are. I hope she knows it too.
