Children’s Program Coordinator

General Purpose of Position: Coordinate and implement the Children’s Program at Parenting Now

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for the safety and well-being of attending children
  • Recruit, hire, orient, train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate Children’s Program staff
  • Supervise Children’s Program volunteers
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum and lesson plans
  • Responsible for room, activity, and snack set up and clean up
  • Responsible for on-going upkeep of Children’s Room: toys, cabinets, and playground
  • Process monthly time sheets for all Children’s Program staff
  • Visit groups and fill in for teachers when needed
  • Collaborate with Program Manager and Parent Educators as needed
  • Responsible for safety and health policies and procedures for parents and staff  (e.g. discipline and diapering)
  • Implement child abuse reporting policies in accordance with Oregon State Laws
  • Attend monthly all-staff meetings and program staff meetings as necessary
  • Create any written reports necessary for grants regarding Children’s Program
  • Collect, sort, and organize donations made by the community
  • Purchase and order materials for the Children’s Program
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of child development
  • Demonstrated ability to work with groups of children and adults
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Flexibility
  • Ability to lift children weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Knowledge of Oregon State Laws on reporting suspected child abuse
  • Current infant/child CPR and First Aide Certification

Desired Education and/or Experience:

  • BA/BS degree or AA degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent experience
  • Managing and training childcare personnel
  • Teaching children birth to eight years of age, including children experiencing stress
